Boars Hill Heath

This substantial garden in the prestigious Boars Hill area of Oxford had been developed over many years, by the previous owner. The new, Chinese, owners wanted more colour and a more modern look added whilst keeping the existing structure.

The building of an indoor pool had destroyed the old orchard, and so this also needed re-instating.

We planned for a wildflower meadow in curved swathes dotted with new fruit, and ornamental blossom trees to be the main feature as you approach the front door.

Other beds were planted up with loose herbaceous perennials and ornamental grasses in a colourful mix of oranges, pinks, purples and whites.

The sandy soil and rabbits were a big challenge, (as well as a visiting snake), but the plants eventually won through and even in a few months the planting beds were providing a bright display.
