Sarah Naybour Dip OCG
2009 Society of Garden Designers Student Designer of the Year
For me Garden Design brings together three things I love:
Art, Nature and People.
My designs are based on the belief that each individual's space
is unique making every project an opportunity for creativity.
The created landscape must sit comfortably in its own
environment, where the relationship between soft and hard landscape is harmonious, giving you a sense of belonging.
It should also be functional; meeting the client's needs and
making the space efficient.
With a background in Fine Art I am particularly interested in the interaction of natural colour and light and how this can be used
to set a mood.
Although my designs are influenced by the natural forms
existing on site, they adhere to simple principles of composition
and proportion, paring back any unnecessary intricate detailing,
thus allowing the natural elements to shine.
My designs are simple, easy to use and maintain, and have an effortless sense of belonging.
I graduated from Oxford College of Garden Design in 2009,
and was awarded Student Designer of the Year by The Society
of Garden Designers. Having originally trained in Fine Art at Winchester, Sarah also continues exhibiting her own prints
and paintings.
