CONSULTATION & BRIEF

We design a space unique to each client, so it is vital that we understand what is wanted and how the garden will be used.
The consultation gives us this opportunity; allowing us time to walk the site, chat and get to know each other. We are going to be working together so we need to get on! Following the consultation we write a Design Brief which will form the framework of the design.

MASTERPLAN

Creating a Masterplan is a process which begins with free form drawings of patterns of flow and interlinking shapes from which we draw up an initial concept plan which includes everything in the brief. This is then discussed in depth and modified until we have a Masterplan. We always base our designs on a topographical survey which we can arrange for you. By the end of this initial stage we can estimate the cost of the build and provide examples of materials.

CONSTRUCTION DETAIL

Once the Masterplan is complete we then work on detailing. This may be defining the exact overhang on a step, driplines on coping, the way that a terrace interacts with a lawn or planting bed, including drainage. We also plan lighting at this stage to allow for cables to be laid during the construction of the garden.
There much to be considered and the devil is in the dtail.
We produce a set of drawings and specifications which form the tender documents against which contractors can quote.

PLANTING DESIGN

Planting design is like creating a living painting that changes with the seasons.
We choose our combinations carefully to suit the soil and aspect of each bed.
Often we are asked for 'low maintenance', but there is never no maintenance, so we also like to be involved with the ongoing life of the garden and can provide maintenance advice for each plant.

PROJECT MONITORING

We make regular visits to site during the build to monitor progress and discuss any changes which inevitably arise in any build.
We are also there for our clients should they have any questions or just want to chat about the transformation.

PLANTS FURNITURE ART

We work with a variety of specialist UK nurseries and aim to source home grown plants as far as is possible.
We aim to reduce the carbon foot print of our gardens as well as increasing biodiversity.
Plants are all checked on arrival and we are happy to go and select trees in person, reserving the best specimens for your project.
We can also design your outdoor furniture layout including any artwork, and source the styles that best suit your garden.
